Building a strong ecosystem of professionals begins with intentionality, shared values, trust and individuals and organizations that value competition and collaboration. From the start, Power100 endeavored to build a resilient community of like-minded investment industry participants that could exchange knowledge and resources and support one another’s growth thereby amplifying our collective impact.

To be clear, this is not a ranking of the wealthiest people or the largest firms based on assets under management. We desired broad participation to reflect the voices, perspectives and experiences of the industry we serve.

Power100 recognizes both established leaders and emerging voices shaping the investment management industry. Our Icons are visionaries whose early leadership and enduring contributions have left a lasting imprint on the field. Asset Managers on the list have demonstrated excellence through strong investment performance, successful capital formation, talent development, community engagement, mentorship, and impactful portfolio stewardship. Allocators and Advisors are honored for performance, industry and thought leadership, expanding access to capital for all high-performing managers and strengthening the pipeline for future investment talent that will oversee the financial futures of endowments, foundations, pensions and other pools of capital. Change is not driven by capital alone. Non-profit organizations, talent executives, law firms, service providers and other industry participants—our Advocates—have amplified the case for sourcing alpha wherever it exists and served as catalysts for progress. In addition to our online nominations process, we speak to or meet over 300 general partners, limited partners, conference organizers, funds of funds, trade organizations, law firms and service providers. We attended over 35 industry events. The process of refining the list involves scanning commercial databases, websites, industry publications and the internet more broadly to develop deeper insights into each nominee.
We are sure that the list is not perfect. In fact, the actual number of recognized firms and individuals exceeds one hundred. Yes. We know basic math; however; we believe that deserving individuals should always have a place on the list, people perform year after year and should be recognized year after year and we have accomplished our mission if we see the list grow.
