Ms. Jefferson is the Founder & CEO of GenEquity Enterprises (GEE), a diversified platform providing consulting, private investment and
media services. She was previously a Partner at The Vistria Group, a middle-market private investment firm specializing in healthcare,
education, financial services and real estate. Before joining Vistria, Gennell was a Managing Director and private equity portfolio manager investing on behalf of the GE Pension Plan. She served on several private equity Advisory Boards and led the Diverse & Emerging
Manager Program for GE Asset Management.
Earlier in her career, Gennell was a corporate & investment banker at firms including Bank of America and Lehman Brothers. She specialized in capital markets structuring and underwriting—raising over $600 billion in debt & equity financings for Fortune 500 corporations. She began her career at Bank of New York lending to Wall Street firms.
Current and former board roles include: A Better Chance—Chair of Nominating & Development Committees; Francis Parker School in Chicago—Finance Committee; and the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP)—Executive, Sponsorship & Corporate Finance Committees. Gennell is a member of The Executives Club of Chicago, PEWIN, the Chicago Finance Exchange and The Service Club of Chicago. Awards and recognition include: P&I Influential Women in Institutional Investing (2024), NASP Trailblazing Women in Finance (2024), 25 Influential Black Women in Business (2015) and General Electric CEO Excellence Award (2013).
Gennell earned a B.S. in Engineering from Washington University and an MBA from the
